On Her Majesty's Secret Service used to be the black sheep of the Bond franchise, but recent years have rightly seen it land near the top of most fan rankings when it comes to the best 007 movies. Well, it was Blofeld in looks only because due to a legal dispute they couldn't name him in that movie. This is actually another nod to a classic Bond movie as For Your Eyes Only opened with 007 also visiting the grave of a former loved one, his wife Tracy, and Blofeld also attacked him shortly after this too. Unfortunately, Bond's peace doesn't last long as a bomb planted by SPECTRE, on orders of Blofeld (Christoph Waltz), soon explodes and a thrilling car chase ensues. He writes a note saying "Forgive me" and burns it at her grave (a local tradition, according to Swann) in a final sign that he's ready to move on. Of course, Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) was going to play a part in No Time to Die as she's haunted Craig's Bond throughout his tenure ever since she died in Casino Royale.įortunately, the new movie doesn't do anything ridiculous like reveal she's actually alive, but in the pre-title sequence, Bond is encouraged by Dr Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) to visit Vesper's grave when they're in Matera, Italy.
